Chairman, Chief Executive Officer
Paul Ricci joined as the company's Chief Executive Officer in September 2000 and has served as Chairman of the Board since 1999. During his tenure, Paul has successfully led the company through significant growth, strategic acquisitions, and business alliances that have transformed the company into the world’s leading provider of speech solutions. Previously, he spent nearly a decade at Xerox Corporation, where he served as president of the desktop system division and a corporate vice president. Paul holds B.A. and Master's degrees in Economics from Stanford University.
Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Development
Bruce Bowden leads Nuance’s company-wide strategy and corporate development organizations. He utilizes deep industry knowledge to drive the business through acquisitions and critical business relationships, and is responsible for Nuance’s investor relations, and corporate strategy and development activities. Bruce came to Nuance in 2010 from Nokia, where he led the company's global merger and acquisition activity, and he previously held strategy and corporate development leadership positions at PepsiCo, neufCegetal (Paris, France) and the Boston Consulting Group. Bruce holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. and J.D. from the University of Virginia.
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Healthcare Division
Satish Maripuri is the executive vice president and general manager of Nuance’s Healthcare division, overseeing all operational aspects of the business including innovation strategy, product development, marketing, sales, and partner and client relationships across the company’s clinical documentation portfolio. He has more than 25 years of management experience in enterprise software and SaaS services, international operations, global mobile workforces, and cloud services. Prior to joining Nuance in 2012, Satish held several executive leadership positions in global technology companies, including Solera Holdings, Lionbridge Technologies, and Imprivata. Satish holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Andhra University and an M.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Northeastern University.
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Document Imaging Division
Michael Rich is the executive vice president and general manager of the Nuance Document Imaging Division, responsible for market-leading office productivity solutions that include eCopy, Equitrac, PDF Converter, Omnipage and PaperPort. Previously, he served as senior vice president of worldwide sales for the Nuance Document Imaging and Dragon businesses. Mike joined Nuance through the 2011 acquisition of Equitrac where he was president and CEO for nearly 10 years. Mike has more than 30 years of leadership experience in technology. He earned both an MS Degree in Computer Information Systems and an MBA from the University of Miami. Mike also holds a BS in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Florida.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Dan Tempesta assumed the role of executive vice president and Chief Financial Officer of Nuance in July 2015. Since joining Nuance in 2008, Dan has held several senior finance roles, having most recently served as Nuance’s Chief Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller, and Senior Vice President of Finance. Dan brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, including extensive financial and operational experience with publicly-held companies and accounting firms. During his time at Nuance, Dan has led the majority of Nuance’s finance and accounting operations, as well as tax, treasury, order management, and internal control activities. He received an accounting degree from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Division
Bob Schassler is the executive vice president and general manager of Nuance’s Mobile division, where he leads efforts around the innovation and proliferation of speech-enabled personal assistants and keyboards across mobile phones, tablets, automobiles, TVs, desktops, wearables, home automation, and other consumer electronics. He has deep expertise serving global commercial and government markets with professional services, managed services, integration services, customized software-based application solutions, and full lifecycle management support offerings, and is well-versed in creating business structures that can nimbly respond to shifting market demands. Prior to joining Nuance in 2016, Bob held numerous leadership roles at Motorola, most recently serving as the executive vice president and general manager of the company’s global solutions and services division. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Binghamton, as well as an MBA from San Diego State University.
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Enterprise Division
Robert Weideman is the executive vice president and general manager of the Nuance Enterprise Division, responsible for customer self-service solutions that are used by leading organizations around the world to automate and optimize the customer care experience. Robert is driving the team behind Nina, the virtual assistant for customer service, which delivers human-like customer service for contact centers, and mobile and web apps. In his tenure with Nuance, he has been the general manager for the Dragon and Imaging businesses, as well as SVP of international marketing in EMEA. Previously, Robert served as chief marketing officer for ScanSoft, and vice president of marketing for the Adobe Systems' portfolio company Cardiff Software. He has also held senior marketing and management roles at TGS.com and CA (Computer Associates). Robert holds a BS in Computer Information Systems and Software Engineering from San Diego State University.
Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer
Dawn Howarth has global responsibility for the company’s talent management programs including workforce planning, total rewards and systems, employment, and learning and organizational development programs. She partners with the executive team on strategic organizational initiatives and plays an active role in the company's acquisition diligence and implementation strategy. Previously, Dawn held human resources management positions at UFP Technologies and Future Electronics. She is an active member of NEHRA and SHRM and holds a Master's degree in Human Resources Management from Lesley University.
Thomas (T.) Brown, IV
Chief Information Officer and Executive Vice President, Enterprise Professional Services
T. Brown leads the global information technology group and drives the effective use of IT to support agility and productivity across Nuance’s businesses. Additionally, he oversees the Enterprise global services organization. This role encompasses the global strategy and day-to-day operations for Enterprise’s professional services, product management, technical support, and business consulting teams focused on all channels of the business. Prior to joining Nuance in 2008, T. served as Chief Operating Officer at Viecore, and has held senior leadership positions at Hewlett Packard, Bell Laboratories, and Hughes Aircraft Company. He holds a BS degree in Computer Science from Penn State University, and an MS degree in Computer Science from UCLA.
Chief Technology Officer
As Nuance's Chief Technology Officer, Vlad Sejnoha oversees Nuance's research and focuses on core technology and product strategy, with an emphasis on emerging areas including natural language processing and mobile applications. Prior to joining Nuance, Vlad was the Chief Scientist at L&H, and earlier at Kurzweil AI, where he was responsible for creating technology for a number of commercially successful speech recognition products, including large vocabulary continuous speech dictation systems. Vlad has over 20 years' experience in the field of speech recognition and holds thirteen U.S. patents. He earned a BS and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from McGill University.
Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer
Ken Siegel serves as Nuance’s Chief Legal Officer, overseeing all legal, intellectual property, corporate governance, and regulatory activities across the company’s global operations. He has more than 30 years’ experience in providing business-oriented legal advice with particular emphasis on M&A, corporate finance, intellectual property, and international business and transactions. Ken has served as general counsel at a number of leading technology companies, including Cyan, Inc., prior to which he was in private practice at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. He holds a BA in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute of International Studies and received his J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of the Law.
