Chairman, Chief Executive Officer
Paul Ricci joined as the company Chief Executive Officer in September 2000 and has served as Chairman of the Board since 1999. During his tenure, Paul has successfully led the company through significant growth and strategic acquisitions and business alliances that have transformed the company into the world’s leading provider of speech solutions. Previously, Paul spent nearly a decade at Xerox Corporation, where he served as president of the desktop system division and a corporate vice president. Paul holds B.A. and Master's degrees in Economics from Stanford University.
President, Sales and Marketing and Executive Vice President
Steve joined Nuance in 2003 and has held several executive roles since that time, including executive vice president of Nuance’s Worldwide Sales organization. He has repeatedly been voted as one of the “Top Influencers in the Speech Industry” and is a well-known industry spokesperson and presenter. Previously, Steve held CMO roles at SpeechWorks, Arbortext, Inc. and start-up VDOnet, and was senior vice president and chief marketing officer for PictureTel Corporation. Steve holds a B.A. degree from Wesleyan University and an M.B.A. and Master’s degree in Communications and Science from Boston University.
Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Tom Beaudoin is responsible for the company’s worldwide financial analysis and administrative operations. Tom joined Nuance in July 2008 from Polaroid Corporation where he was president, CFO, and COO. He brings more than 30 years of experience providing financial and operational leadership and support to small businesses and global enterprises. As president, COO and CFO of Polaroid he was responsible for the strategic and operational transformation of the company. He has also held senior finance positions at Parametric Technology, i2, Compaq and Digital Equipment Corporation. Tom holds a B.S.B.A. degree and an M.B.A. from Babson College.
Executive Vice President, Corporate Development
Bruce Bowden joined Nuance in 2010 to drive company-wide strategy and lead efforts to grow the business through acquisitions and business relationships. Bruce came to Nuance from Nokia, where he led the company's global merger and acquisition activity, and he previously held strategy and corporate development leadership positions at PepsiCo, neufCegetal (Paris, France) and the Boston Consulting Group. Bruce holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. and J.D. from the University of Virginia.
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Healthcare Division
Janet Dillione is responsible for leading Nuance’s Healthcare Business. Prior to joining the company in April of 2010, Janet was CEO of Siemens Health Services where her tenure is distinguished by her effectiveness to redesign go-to-market strategies, expand global channels and improve operational performance. Before joining Siemens in 2000, Ms. Dillione held a number of leadership positions at Share Medical Systems. She holds a B.A. degree from Brown University and has attended the Executive Development Program at the Wharton School of Business.
Executive Vice President and General Counsel
Todd is responsible for Nuance’s legal, M&A, intellectual property, corporate governance and regulatory activities across Nuance’s global operations. Todd has more than 25 years of relevant experience, most recently serving as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of National Semiconductor Corporation, and holding General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer positions at other large global companies including Solectron, Inc., Fisher Scientific International, Inc. and OfficeMax, Inc. Previously, Mr. DuChene practiced law at Baker & Hostetler in its Corporate, Securities and M&A Group. Todd graduated from The College of Wooster and The University of Michigan Law School.
Executive Vice President, Global Sales
Bill Nelson is the leader of Nuance’s Global Sales organization. Bill joined the company in April 2011 from SunGard Availability Services, where he was executive vice president of North American Sales. Previously, he was executive vice president of Global Sales at Nortel Networks; senior vice president at EMC; and president of Lucent’s Service Provider Networks and Softswitch business units. Bill also had a distinguished career at AT&T, where he held a number of executive roles in sales, marketing and business development. Bill holds a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts.
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Division
Michael Thompson is the executive vice president and general manager of the Nuance Mobile Division. In this role, he is responsible for the innovation, development, marketing and sale of speech-enabled and predictive text input solutions to the mobile phone, automotive, and consumer electronics markets. Thompson joined Nuance in 2003 and has held a variety of leadership positions at both the company's Massachusetts headquarters and internationally. Thompson holds a Professional Engineer's license in mechanical engineering and earned an M.B.A. at Cornell University after completing his undergraduate engineering studies at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Executive Vice President and General Manager, Enterprise Division
Robert Weideman is the executive vice president and general manager of the Nuance Enterprise Division, responsible for customer self-service solutions that are used by leading organizations around the world to automate and optimize the customer care experience – from the call center to the the web and mobile devices. In his tenure with Nuance he has been the general manager for Dragon and Imaging products and SVP of international marketing in EMEA. Previously he has been chief marketing officer for ScanSoft from 2001 until 2004, and vice president of marketing for the Adobe Systems' portfolio company Cardiff Software from 1999-2001, performing an instrumental role in establishing the W3C XForms XML standard. He has also held senior marketing roles at TGS.com and Computer Associates.
Chief Creative Officer
As Chief Creative Officer for Nuance Communications, Gary Clayton holds a unique role that sits at the intersection of strategy, innovation and design. Spanning the mobile, healthcare, consumer and enterprise markets, Gary drives an innovative team of engineers and creative designers that interpret technology trends through a design lens and attempt to create next-generation user experiences. Prior to joining Nuance, Gary was the vice president of speech strategy for Yahoo!, where he led the Company's efforts in creating next-generation speech applications including speech-enabled, unconstricted web search. Before Yahoo!, He was the Chief Creative Officer for Tellme Networks, a division of Microsoft where he oversaw many applications including Tellme Search. Prior to Tellme Gary was the founder and president of Clayton Multimedia. Gary holds five US patents and applications, is a Grammy Award nominee, and his innovations have been acclaimed by a number of associations and journals, including the Wall Street Journal Innovation Awards.
Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Dawn Howarth has global responsibility for workforce planning, compensation, HRIS and benefits, employment, training, organizational development and employee relations programs. She partners with the executive team on strategic organizational initiatives and plays an active role in the company's acquisition diligence and implementation strategy. Previously, Ms. Howarth held human resources management positions at UFP Technologies and Future Electronics. She is an active member of NEHRA and SHRM and holds a Master's degree in Human Resources Management from Lesley University.
Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer
Peter oversees the worldwide marketing for Nuance. Peter joined the company in 2004 as the vice president of worldwide marketing for the speech division and has most recently been the senior vice president and general manager of Dragon. Prior to Nuance, Peter held leadership roles in marketing, product management and operations at ATG, Engage and PictureTel after a successful career in sales and alliances at IBM. Peter has a B.S. from Boston College with a double major in Physics and Computer Science.
Senior Vice President and Technical Advisor
Jeanne is the senior Nuance executive for Nuance’s IBM relationships and also works on matters of R&D strategy, prioritization, and operational excellence. Jeanne has been with Nuance for 10 years. Prior to joining Nuance, Jeanne led development programs at Lernout & Hauspie and before that Dragon Systems and Wang. Jeanne has over 30 years of experience in technology development leadership, and holds a B.A. from Simmons College and an M.B.A. from Babson College.
Senior Vice President and General Manager, Document Imaging Division
Michael Rich is the senior vice president and general manager of the Nuance Document Imaging Division, responsible for market-leading office productivity solutions that include eCopy, Equitrac, PDF Converter, Omnipage and PaperPort. Previously, Mike was senior vice president, worldwide sales for Nuance Document Imaging and Dragon. Mike joined Nuance through the 2011 acquisition of Equitrac where he served as President and CEO for nearly 10 years. Mike has more than 30 years of leadership experience in technology. He earned both a MS Degree in Computer Information Systems and an MBA from the University of Miami. Mike also holds a BS in Business Administration/Finance from the University of Florida.
Chief Technology Officer
As Nuance's Chief Technology Officer, Vlad Sejnoha oversees Nuance's research and focuses on core technology and product strategy, with an emphasis on emerging areas including natural language processing and mobile applications. Prior to joining Nuance, Vlad was the Chief Scientist at L&H, and earlier at Kurzweil AI, where he was responsible for creating technology for a number of commercially successful speech recognition products, including large vocabulary continuous speech dictation systems. Vlad has over 20 years experience in the field of speech recognition and holds thirteen US patents.
