Featured White Paper
Nuance is able to greatly simplify application development by packaging even complex dialog tasks that often require significant developer effort. Based on our unmatched experience in deploying best-of-breed applications, we have packaged sophisticated dialogs into re-usable components that significantly reduce development and design effort in the implementation of new applications. Advanced OSDMs require more than one turn in the conversation to capture more complex information, such as a caller’s full name, e-mail address, or postal address. Nuance provides 5 advanced OSDMs.
Name

Many customer-service applications need to collect a caller’s name and to ensure that it is correctly spelled in the company records. This OSDM uses U.S. Census data, augmented by data from Nuance's unrivaled data library, to deliver 95% US population. For the remaining 5%, the Name OSDM records the spoken and/or spelled name for offline transcription or forwarding to an operator. For name confirmation, the OSDM calls RealSpeak TTS, which has been optimized for names pronunciation, using the same voice as the pre-recorded prompt library delivered with the OSDM. This voice match ensures a smooth and seamless experience for the caller. The Name OSDM is available in U.S. English. For more information on the name recognition OSDM, click here

US Address

This sophisticated OSDM offers significant savings to the application developer. It efficiently carries out the complex task of capturing a caller's postal address. The Address OSDM uses the U.S. Postal Service address database as the basis for address recognition and collection. Monthly updates to the database are provided with the purchase of a standard maintenance agreement. Once again, this OSDM is augmented with a pre-optimized RealSpeak TTS voice that matches the voice used to record the prompt library. The Address OSDM is available in U.S. English.

Unconstrained Alpha-Numeric (UCAN) OSDM

The single Alpha-Numeric OSDM can capture strings up to 20 characters long. In applications where an alphanumeric string might be unpredictable, a greater degree of flexibility is needed, and this OSDM delivers that flexibility. The UCAN OSDM is supplied in consultation with Nuance's Professional Services.

Email collection

Email collection over the phone is complex due to the large number of formats in which email addresses are presented. The Email OSDM prompts users to provide first their user name (e.g. john.smith) and then their domain name (e.g. nuance.com). The Email OSDM is supplied in consultation with Nuance's Professional Services.

MyWord Voice Personalization

The MyWord voice enrollment OSDM allows users to add vocabulary items to lists over the phone. It is well suited for voice-activated dialing services, allowing users to add customized names like “My Dad” or friends’ nicknames to their contact list. This OSDM is supplied in consultation with Nuance's Professional Services.
