Editing Tools

With iChart you are not forced into one way of working. Recognized text can be completed either by a transcriptionist or through real-time physician self-editing. The transcriptionist option includes using your own in-house employees, who connect to iChart via the Internet, or by entering into an outsourcing contract with Dictaphone's PSP partners.

iChart Transcriptionist Editing Tools

Using Dictaphone software to edit recognized text, transcriptionists are achieving documented productivity gains of 20% to 50% and higher. That translates to real cost savings! Many features and "hot keys" promote rapid correction:

  • Synchronized Voice and Text Playback
As the editor listens to the dictated audio, the matching recognized text is highlighted onscreen to enhance the ease and accuracy of the editing process.
  • "Magic" Editing Keys
On-the-fly editing tools include keystrokes that automatically insert punctuation with the appropriate formatting.
  • Keyboard Repeat Playback
A simple keystroke sequence plays back the audio to any highlighted phrase or passage as many times as desired.

Provider Editing: The "Once & Done" Option

Bringing the physician to the PC gives caregivers once-and-done control over reporting while maximizing transcription cost savings. Using Dictaphone's browser-based iChart workstation, physicians easily review and sign reports from any Internet-connected PC. Important iChart physician tools include:

  • Customizable Report Templates and Short-Cuts
iChart workstation uses voice commands and micro-phone buttons to launch customized report templates and dictation short-cuts such as “normals” and standard blocks of text. Template variables can be filled in through speech, and all “normals” can be edited using voice.
  • Optimized Self Editing Tools
The iChart workstation offers real-time recognition, allowing physicians to immediately view their text reports upon completion of dictation, with two editing modes to fit user preferences:
  • Voice Editing
using voice commands and microphone buttons to make any corrections and navigate through the document. Changes and additions anywhere in the report can be spoken and immediately recognized.
  • Keyboard Editing
using familiar mouse and word processor tools.
