Installation

Four steps are needed to download and install the Walkabout Transfer or Walkabout Write software:

1. Download the files by clicking the appropriate link above.
2. Uninstall any previous version of Walkabout Transfer or Walkabout Write software currently installed on your PC.
3. Extract the downloaded files and install the new software.
4. Check and update the firmware version on your Walkabout recorders if needed.

Warning: Both Walkabout Write and Transfer applications should not be installed on the same PC. If both the dictate and transcribe function is required on the same PC, install the Walkabout Write software.

To download the Walkabout Transfer or Walkabout Write software:

1. Click the Download link above.
2. When prompted to do so, click Save to save the file to your hard drive.
3. In the Save As dialog box, navigate to the desired folder.
4. Click Save to begin the download.
5. When the Walkabout Transfer or Walkabout Write download is complete, click Close to close the Download Complete information box.
6. Close your Internet connection and proceed with the installation.

Both the Walkabout Transfer and Walkabout Write software contain a feature to identify and upgrade the firmware version on the portable. If however, an upgrade cannot be performed through the software application, click the appropriate firmware link below.

This Walkabout DSS Player is included with the Walkabout Transfer and Walkabout Write softwares. It can also be downloaded separately to share Walkabout audio files with others. The DSS Player allows anyone to play DSS audio files. Send the DSSplay.exe file, along with your audio files, to anyone whom you want to listen to your audio files. To download the Dictaphone Walkabout DSS Player, simply click the download link and save the file to your PC. To play an audio file, double-click the DSSplay.exe file to start the player and open the audio file.

1. Click the Walkabout DSS Player link above.
2. Click Save to save the file to your hard drive.
3. In the Save As dialog box, navigate to the C:\TEMP folder.
4. Click Save to begin the download.
5. When the download is complete, close your Internet connection.

To play an audio file:

1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\TEMP folder where you downloaded the DSS Player file.
2. Double-click the DSSPlay.exe file in the right pane.
3. In the Open dialog box, navigate to and select the audio file (.dss file) that you want to play.
4. Click Open to open the Player and play the file. Use the Player controls to start, stop, go to beginning, rewind, fast-forward, or go to end.
5. Click the Close button in the top right corner to close the Player when you are finished.
