Lt. Colonel Jack L. Gumbert II (Retired) joined Viecore FSD in 2005. As COO, Mr. Gumbert is responsible for implementing strategic plans and pursuing business development opportunities. Mr. Gumbert oversees program management, supply chain and vendor management, and tactical programs implementation. Mr. Gumbert previously served as a Program Manager for the Multi-Cell and Dismount Command and Control (M&DC2) program and has been instrumental in the development of new business. Before joining Viecore FSD, Mr. Gumbert was the Chairman/Professor of Military Science and Battalion Commander at Ohio State University, responsible for the training, supervision and mission accomplishment of cadets and military personnel. During his career in the U.S. Army, he held many positions including Director of Instrumentation & Information Systems at Fort Irwin, CA, Battalion Operations & Executive Officer and Lead War Planner at Fort Hood, TX, and HHC Company Commander in the Federal Republic of Germany. He led a design team in advanced command and control systems for Army Future Combat Systems while working for The Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA). Mr. Gumbert began his military career in 1981 and is a Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) in the U.S. Army.
Andre Zirkler joined Eclipse Networks, now Viecore FSD in November 1995. As CTO, Mr. Zirkler is responsible for setting the overall technological vision and direction for the firm. Closely involved in new business development, Mr. Zirkler draws on more than a decade of experience with military contracting. Mr. Zirkler began his career in Bell Labs in 1981, designing and building management systems and services for early home networks. He left to pursue independent consulting projects for AT&T and Bell Labs when, in 1989, he joined Vitronics. At Vitronics, he performed avionics research for Blackhawk helicopters and built guidance and navigation systems enabling low altitude night operations. After Vitronics, Mr. Zirkler moved to designing battlefield simulation software for Silicon Graphics workstations and eventually to planning and decision support systems. Mr. Zirkler is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University.
Doug Courtney is the Director of Software Development for Viecore FSD. Mr. Courtney is responsible for the software design, development, integration and testing of the planning software and services currently under development for PM Battle Command. Mr. Courtney is also directing software development of applications that support the integration of simulation systems with Battle Command systems under PM Common Software. Additionally, Mr. Courtney is responsible for the software development and integration of Research and Development programs supporting planning, situational awareness and experimentation under the Command and Control Directorate. In addition to his leadership in the technical areas, Mr. Courtney is responsible for the programs execution and assuring quality deliverables to the customers. He received his BA in Computer Science from Rutgers College, Rutgers University and a Masters in Computer Science from NJ Institute of Technology, both in New Jersey.
Robert Lawrence is a Director of Software Development for Viecore FSD. Mr. Lawrence is responsible for the software design, development, integration and testing of the planning software and services currently under development for the Future Combat Systems Planning and Preparation Services package. This work is performed within a rigorous SW CMM level 5 process as a subcontract to GDC4S. Additionally, Mr Lawrence is responsible for the software design, development and integration of the Command and Control of Robotic Entities (C2ORE) research program supporting planning, situational awareness and experimentation under the Command and Control Directorate. In addition to his leadership in the technical areas, Mr. Lawrence is responsible for the programs execution, including schedules and costs and assuring quality deliverables to the customers. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and a MS in Technology Management from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.
