Speech Recognition for the Mac

Nuance Products for Mac OS X 10.7

Working with Mac OS X Lion

Apple released its latest operating system, OS X 10.7 (Lion), in July 2011. Since many of our Dragon Dictate and MacSpeech Scribe users may choose to upgrade to this operating system, we feel it is important to let you know how this Mac OS update will affect your version of our software.

Dragon Dictate 2.5 Customers

With the release of Dragon Dictate 2.5.1 in August, customers can effectively use the latest release of Dragon Dictate with OS X Lion. Some customers of version 2.5 may experience occasional crashes, so it's important  to install Dictate 2.5.1 (a free update) for the best user experience. If you are not automatically prompted to download this update when opening Dictate, check for updates by going to the Dictate menu and choosing "Check for updates."

Dragon Dictate 2.0 Customers

Our testing suggests that customers may experience irregular software crashes when opening or running the software on the new Mac OS X Lion. We encourage updating to Dragon Dictate 2.5.1 (a free update) to maintain the best user experience.

MacSpeech Dictate 1.5 Customers
Our testing suggests that customers may experience irregular software crashes when opening or running the software on the new Mac OS X Lion. We encourage MacSpeech Dictate customers to upgrade to the latest version of the software.

MacSpeech Scribe Customers
MacSpeech Scribe 1.1.1, released in September, installs and runs on OS X 10.7 (Lion). Scribe 1.1.1 is a free update for existing Scribe customers. If you are not automatically prompted to download this update when opening Scribe, check for updates by going to the Scribe menu and choosing "Check for updates."
