Nuance TALKS&ZOOMS makes mobile phones accessible and is the preferred mobile screen reader in the blind community. Nuance TALKS is a software application for mobile handsets that converts text displayed on the screen into highly intelligible speech. Nuance ZOOMS is a sophisticated screen magnifier application that runs on phones with the Symbian™ S60 3rd/5th Edition and with the Symbian^3 platform.
Nuance TALKS&ZOOMS empowers people who are blind or have low-vision by providing access to most handset features including but not limited to:
- home screen information
- contact directories
- caller ID
- text messages
- email - via the phone's built-in mail app
- web content via the Nokia web browser
- navigation via Nokia maps software
- many 3rd-party applications
TALKS v5 introduces a whole series of innovations including support for a new generation of touch screen phones brought by Symbian^3.
The latest release of TALKS Version 5.31 introduces these extended and improved features:
NEW! Improved automatic reading of "call waiting" screen (when TALKS is muted)

NEW! Improved support for unlabeled icons in various applications
NEW! Improved support for recent versions of the Nokia Browser (interaction with controls, etc.)

TALKS Version 5.30 introduced these extended and improved features:
Support for Nokia Belle operating system upgrade
Improvements to email reading functionality such as access to links and attachments and ability to explore the "inbox view" with touch
Improved support for Nokia Maps on touch screen devices
Support for WhatsApp messaging software
Note: Nuance TALKS&ZOOMS Version 5.31 is a free upgrade for all Premium Edition licenses generated after November 13, 2007. In particular, this means that it can be installed by any customer who is currently able to run version 4.11 or 5.x without requiring a new license.
Note: Screen magnification using ZOOMS and Automation is not yet supported on Symbian^3 handsets.
