Q. We hear that Nuance acquired MacSpeech. Is this true?
A. Yes, Nuance has acquired MacSpeech. The deal was announced on February 16, 2010.
Q. What is the cost of the acquisition?

Q. Why did MacSpeech sell to Nuance?
A. MacSpeech sold to Nuance because they believed that it was the best way to deliver on the promise of MacSpeech Dictate for customers while maximizing shareholder return.

Q. In which language are MacSpeech’s products available? Are all language versions also available in Medical, Legal editions?
A. MacSpeech Dictate, MacSpeech Dictate Legal, MacSpeech Dictate Medical, and MacSpeech Dictate International support up to 13 distinct English language dialects. Q. Is the recognition quality of Dictate comparable with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10?
A. The MacSpeech Dictate product line already uses the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 engine at its core.
Q. MacSpeech has a strong brand; will the company and its products/solutions still be branded as MacSpeech?
A. Nuance values the MacSpeech brand. Nuance and MacSpeech teams are working together on branding strategies. We will have more to share in the coming months.
Q. Will Nuance also provide technical support and customer service for MacSpeech products? Does this include legacy products?
A. We will continue to provide support for all MacSpeech products without interruption using the existing support capabilities.
Q. What kinds of new or improved solutions can we expect to see as a result of this agreement?

We can assure customers of both Dragon NaturallySpeaking and MacSpeech Dictate that we will continue to provide the world’s most advanced, cutting-edge speech recognition solutions for both platforms. The current shipping version of the MacSpeech Dictate product portfolio is built on the latest Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech recognition engine.
Q. Will Dictate also be available for the new Apple iPad?
A. MacSpeech Dictate will not be compatible with Apple’s iPad. MacSpeech Dictate requires Mac OS X 10.5.6 (Leopard) through Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), and an Intel-based Macintosh.
