Fun activities-such as golf, cruises, and scavenger hunts-have always been part of the Conversations agenda. They are a chance to enjoy the destination, share a unique experience, and have some fun with other conference attendees. This year, to enable broad participation, the activities will take place on Tuesday afternoon. When you register for the conference you will have the choice of five options that cover local Southwestern culture, beauty, excitement, and some friendly competition!
Be sure to register early to ensure that you can participate in the event of your choice!
- Golf Outing
On the JW Marriott property, the Faldo Course at Wildfire Golf Club offers a slight variation from typical Sonoran Desert-theme courses. It features generous fairways, large bent grass greens and tee boxes. The outing will have a scramble format and prizes awarded for low score, closest to the pin, and more. Greens fees and club rentals, if needed, are included.
- Jeep Rally
Get ready for a guided back-country tour of the desert! Guests will receive clues and a Polaroid camera to find landmarks among fantastic rock formations and amazing scenery. Each team will strive to be the first to find the "Lost Dutchment's Treasure".
- Hummer Rally
Take the desert by storm! Similar to the Jeep Rally, teams will compete in a photo scavenger hunt - but the experience is one only these vehicles can provide. Travel over hills and up steep rock faces. Be a part of this riveting ride! Please note, the tour is not recommended for guests with back conditions, heart problems, or pregnant women.
- Cattle Drive
Don't miss this one of a kind experience - an authentic cattle drive.
Assisted by professional wranglers, guests will work together on horseback to drive a herd of cattle through Arizona's unique desert landscape. Rugged rocky terrain, cactus and desert ravines provide challenges and breathtaking scenery. Beginning riders welcome.
- Landscape Painting Instruction
Working with an experienced acrylic painter, participants will create a small simple landscape on canvas capturing characteristics of the local area. The class will be outside in one of the JW Marriott gardens, and last approximately 3 hours.
