ScanSoft to Showcase Speech Technologies for Desktop and Embedded Platforms at Premier Intel Event

ScanSoft's Dictation, ASR and TTS Products for Pentium, StrongARM and XScale Highlighted at Intel Development Forum in Munich

IDF Developer Forum, MUNICH, GERMANY, May 28, 2002 - ScanSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSFT), a leading supplier of imaging, speech and language solutions, today announced that it will showcase its broad range of desktop and embedded speech products at the Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) Development Forum taking place this week in Munich, Germany.

The Intel conference, titled "Advancing the Digital Universe - Computing in Communications," is designed to provide invaluable insight into the next generation of products, technologies and solutions for wire line and wireless communications.

At the event, ScanSoft will meet with Intel developers, customers and partners to discuss its Dragon NaturallySpeaking® desktop dictation solution, AudioMining™ Development System, RealSpeak™ text-to-speech SDK and ASR 1600 voice recognition SDKs. The ScanSoft® speech recognition and text-to-speech product line is optimized for Intel Pentium®, StrongARM® and XScale™ processors, supporting Microsoft® Windows® and Windows® CE, as well as Linux operating systems. ScanSoft's products are considered among the best in the industry, and have been selected by a range of distribution and OEM partners, including Cisco, Comverse, Edify, InterVoice-Brite, Microsoft, Nortel, Panasonic, and SONY.

RealSpeak Telecom is optimized for Intel Communication Platforms as well as Pentium processors running Microsoft Windows, Linux and Sun SOLARIS® operating systems.

  • ASR1600 - The most accurate small-footprint voice recognition SDK is optimized for Intel StrongARM and XScale processors, running Microsoft Windows CE, Windows CE for Automotive, as well as embedded Linux, QNX and WindRiver operating systems.

  • TTS3000 and RealSpeak Compact - The leading embedded text-to-speech SDKs provide human-sounding synthesized speech on Intel StrongARM and XScale processors running Microsoft Windows CE, Windows CE for Automotive as well as embedded Linux, QNX and WindRiver operating systems.

  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking - The most popular and accurate desktop dictation and speech recognition application is tuned for Intel Pentium processors running Microsoft Windows operating systems.

  • The AudioMining Development System - A new product from ScanSoft that allows speech content in audio and video files to be searched and played using text keywords. XML speech index data is created for every spoken word within rich media files, providing timestamp, confidence levels and meta data. The system is optimized for Intel Pentium processors running Microsoft Windows operating systems.
