The product adds document imaging and desktop document management capabilities to the Oracle Internet File System, the Oracle Content Management SDK (CMSDK) and Oracle Files - a feature of the new Oracle Collaboration Suite. ScanSoft and Oracle have collaborated on the development of the product, and will jointly market the solution to corporate, government and academic organizations.

The ScanSoft PaperPort Pro Suite integrates PaperPort Deluxe 8.2 and OmniPage Pro® with Oracle Files, the CMSDK and the Oracle Internet File System. PaperPort Pro adds imaging capabilities to Oracle9i, leveraging ScanSoft's highly-accurate OmniPage Pro OCR product to automatically create indexed PDF documents from paper and digital documents. The indexed PDF files automatically populate Oracle's search services, with a level of accuracy that ensures that documents stored within the system can be retrieved when needed.

PaperPort Pro also delivers document collaboration and workflow capabilities through drag and drop Link Agents and the PaperPort application link bar. Local PC, network files, and content stored within Oracle Files can instantly initiate a wide range of built-in functions, including email, word processing, OCR, PDF creation and FTP transfer processes. Custom workflows can also be easily developed by in-house developers or VARs using the PaperPort Link Agent SDK.
