TS Telefonica Sistemas Selects ScanSoft RealSpeak for Interactive Voice Response System

ScanSoft's Text-to-Speech Technology Makes Phone Banking Easy, Secure and Convenient

PEABODY, Mass. and GENT, Belgium, September 24, 2002 - ScanSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: SSFT), a leading supplier of imaging, speech and language solutions, today announced that TS Telefonica Sistemas, a leading CRM and e-business system integrator in Spain, has licensed ScanSoft® RealSpeak™ as the integrated text-to-speech technology for ManagerVox®, an interactive voice response (IVR) system. ManagerVox is widely used by banks, call centers and insurance companies to implement automated, telephone-based customer service applications.

The ManagerVox system lets customers interact with telephone-based banking, customer support and product information requests using spoken words. As the "voice" behind the system, ScanSoft RealSpeak conveys balance information and money transfer confirmations over fixed or mobile phones. Within the ManagerVox implementation, RealSpeak converts text-based information into spoken messages using the industry's most natural-sounding, computer-generated voice, in British English, German and Castilian Spanish.

ScanSoft RealSpeak is the market-leading product for converting text into human-sounding synthesized speech. The product is used for a wide range of applications, including delivering emails for unified messaging systems, providing prompts for IVR applications, and speech-enabling mobile, automotive, game and PC/multimedia applications.
