Nuance and EFI Announce the Availability of EFI Desktop SE 2.0 and EFI Desktop Pro 2.0 – Complete Document Process Automation for High-Volume Office and Design Environments

Designed to provide office workers with the most complete scan-to-desktop and document routing solutions, EFI Desktop 2.0 standardizes on Nuance’s PaperPort® and OmniPage® software applications as its desktop component for the industry-leading EFI Fiery® and SendMe™ solutions, under the brands EFI Desktop SE and EFI Desktop Pro. These solutions simplify document distribution and management for paper-intensive businesses, streamlining operations and reducing the time and costs spent on document management.

EFI SendMe – also sold under the brand IKON DocSend – is the premier digital document capture, distribution and management solution for paper-intensive businesses. EFI Desktop SE 2.0

EFI Desktop SE is the desktop document capture application of choice, bringing paper into a paperless workflow. EFI Desktop Pro 2.0

EFI Desktop Pro 2.0 is available as an upgrade for EFI Fiery users or as an accessory for EFI SendMe to provide professional-level desktop document management and conversion. EFI Desktop Pro 2.0 leverages the power of the award-winning PaperPort Pro and OmniPage applications to deliver desktop scanning, document management, and character recognition technology. EFI Desktop Pro 2.0 includes all the EFI Desktop SE functionality mentioned above, as well as robust PDF creation and security, advanced document assembly for all electronic documents, All-in-One Search with full-content indexing, FormTyper for filling scanned forms. EFIDesktop Pro 2.0 includes the following new features:

• Fast and accurate OCR – Provides a full interface for document conversion and features a 40 percent gain in accuracy. EFI’s solutions convert paper into documents that users can edit in seconds.



• PDF-MRC High Compression Technology – Users are able to create PDF files that are up to eight times smaller than traditional PDFs with EFI Desktop Pro 2.0’s high compression technology – perfect for sending color files via email.



• Innovative Folder Notes – Users can attach meaningful information to every storage folder. Adding client information, project summary, or ID numbers to the folders in EFI Desktop Pro associates the information with files in the folder, too, enabling fast access to the most important data and expanded retrieval capabilities.

Availability

EFI Desktop SE is a standard utility for Fiery color digital print servers; EFI Desktop Pro is offered as an optional desktop component for EFI SendMe, and as an optional desktop upgrade for Fiery users. Both solutions are available through authorized EFI resellers and distributors. SendMe is also sold through IKON branded as DocSend.
