Using Bonjour with the Dragon Remote Microphone Application

Bonjour helps computers and devices find other computers and devices. It's an Apple software utility that the Dragon Remote Microphone Application uses to communicate with the computer where you are running Dragon.

Bonjour is automatically installed with iTunes or the Safari browser from Apple.

Determining whether you have Bonjour installed and running

Bonjour runs in the background as a service.

To check for the Bonjour service:

  1. Click Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools.
  2. Click Services.
If Bonjour is installed and running, it is listed under "Name" with a status of "Started." You may need to scroll down.

Downloading Bonjour

You can get Bonjour by downloading and installing one of the applications Apple packages it with. The smallest of these is Bonjour Print Services for Windows, which you can get at http://www.apple.com/support/bonjour/. Otherwise, get Bonjour with iTunes (http://www.apple.com/itunes/) or Safari (http://www.apple.com/safari/).

Scan and manual set-up

If you don't have Bonjour installed - or you're unsure - or if you have an non-iOS device, you can set up the remote microphone application by scanning a barcode with the device's camera. You can also enter the information manually.

Launching the Remote Microphone application

When you have set up and loaded a user profile for the Dragon Remote Microphone, launch the application from the DragonBar by selecting Tools>Remote Microphone on the DragonBar.
