RealSpeak™ Mobile is a family of text-to-speech products primarily targeting applications on mobile handsets that includes SMS and email reading functionality. RealSpeak Mobile is a very scalable and modular engine ranging from very small footprint—entry level version to very high, natural sounding speech quality with advanced text pre-processing functionality. As part of the broader RealSpeak family, RealSpeak Mobile can offer a very broad range of languages and voices.
RealSpeak Mobile provides a scalable embedded text-to-speech system for mobile handsets. With RealSpeak Mobile any SMS and email from the personal inbox can be read. While providing a very natural high voice quality the whole text-to-speech system runs on the mobile device itself. In order to accommodate typical resource constraints, RealSpeak Mobile is available in different memory configurations. Depending on the availability of fast ROM the RAM requirements can be kept at a minimum of less than 400 kBytes. Split memory requirements are met in different categories. Both, program memory and unit selector can run in RAM or fast ROM while the largest part of the total footprint, the speech base data can run from slow memory like NAND flash.
RealSpeak Mobile Naturalness and Quality
Targeting SMS and email reading applications RealSpeak Mobile offers industry leading text preprocessing capabilities. The SMS preprocessor can identify sentence breaks and deal with typical acronyms, emoticons, smilies, and other SMS input. RealSpeak Mobile offers unmatched natural sounding speech quality in over 14 languages (23 languages available for RealSpeak). For all major languages male voice will be available in addition to the existing female voices. RealSpeak Mobile comes in two different versions: RealSpeak Mobile SF at around 2 MB total footprint and RealSpeak Mobile HQ at around 5 MB total footprint (between 400 KB and 1.5 MB RAM).
