Course Description

Technical Support for Enterprise Foundation Technologies

The aim of this training workshop is to prepare technicians to provide first-line technical support for the following products:

  • Nuance Recognizer 9.0 – the recognition engine
  • RealSpeak 4.5 – the text-to-speech engine
  • Nuance Speech Server 5.0 – the MRCP server
  • Licensing Manager 11.4 – the license server

This course builds upon the ‘Installation and Initial Configuration’ prerequisite class to provide instruction on troubleshooting and resolving issues that may arise in deployments using Nuance Enterprise Foundation Technologies. For each product, participants generate and view logs and learn to solve real problems. You learn the answers to many questions, including:

    • What open standards, encodings, and file formats are supported by Nuance products?
    • When do Nuance Recognizer 9.0 (NR 9.0) and RealSpeak obtain licenses?
    • How and when does NR 9.0 generate call logs?
    • Why would NR 9.0 generate an error when fetching a grammar?
    • What causes recognition latency?
    • How do I test and modify RealSpeak output?
    • How does Nuance Speech Server support MRCP version 1 and MRCP version 2?
    • How do MRCP messages affect NR 9.0 and RealSpeak behavior?
    • What tools are available for testing NR 9.0, RealSpeak, and Nuance Speech Server?

Hands-on exercises reinforce class lessons. By the end of the course, participants will have performed hands-on troubleshooting exercises on all products using Nuance’s eCampus virtual machines.

This course is a recommended prerequisite for the Nuance Technical Associate – Enterprise Foundation Technologies certification exam.
