Course Description

Developing with Nuance Dialog Modules

This course presents information on how to develop speech applications using Core Nuance Dialog Modules (NDMs). It discusses how NDMs influence efficient design and call flow decisions and streamline coding. The course describes best practices for configuring and customizing NDMS in individual collection contexts throughout an application, including the Custom Context NDM and its user-defined grammar(s). It also discusses logging and the use of the Nuance Application Reporting tool to evaluate the success of each NDM and its grammars in relation to recognizer accuracy and caller satisfaction.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
  • Describe Nuance Dialog Module (NDM) functionality and architecture
  • Discuss how NDMs are used in building VoiceXML applications
  • Explain how NDMs incorporate user interface design
  • List the types of NDMs available for VoiceXML applications
  • Describe the configuration parameters available to customize how NDMs work in particular system or application contexts
  • Customize NDM prompting and call-flow
  • Create a CustomContext Grammar
