Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. We make every effort not to cancel classes. However, we reserve the right to do so if enrollment is low.

eCampus:

  • If we cancel an eCampus class, students will be advised three business days in advance by e-mail.
  • To cancel your eCampus class registration, the request must be submitted via e-mail to training@nuance.com at least five business days prior to the class to receive a full refund. If the cancellation is between four days and one day prior to the class, or if a registered student does not attend the live eCampus class, a refund will not be issued. In this instance, the recorded class session will be made available to the student via the Internet.

Classroom:

  • If we cancel a standard classroom session, students will be advised ten business days in advance by e-mail.
  • We understand that occasionally you may need to cancel a student reservation. All cancellations must be submitted to training@nuance.com at least five business days prior to the class to receive a full refund. Cancellations made between four business days and two business days of the class may result in a $500 USD cancellation fee. Cancellations made one business day prior to class may result in a $1000 USD cancellation fee.
Q. Does Nuance University offer certification?
A. Nuance Universitiy (Enterprise Division) launched a new product-based certification program in May 2009. The Nuance Technical Associate: Enterprise Foundation Technologies Exam certifies people who install, configure, and provide first line support for the Nuance Recognizer, RealSpeak text to speech engine, and Nuance Speech Server (and including use of the license manager). Details can be found on our Certifications page.

Looking ahead, we expect to enlarge the number of exams to cover installation, configuration, and basic support for supplemental Enterprise products. Please contact us directly if you have questions on other products and the certification timeline.

Q. How can I get information on your training centers?
A. Please contact training@nuance.com to request a PDF with current information on training centers, nearby hotel, transportation considerations, etc.
Q. What companies have been trained by Nuance University?
A. Nuance Speech University and the former SpeechWorks Institute have trained students from hundreds of companies, including telephony platform partners, implementation partners, enterprise care customers, and more. Some of the companies we have trained recently are Nortel, Dell, Genesys, Bank of America, Verizon, Spanlink, eLoyalty, PayPal, ABN AMRO, HSBC, The Standard, Aetna, The Hartford, South Korea Telecom, Guardian, Vanguard, University Pennsylvania Medical Center, Mass Mutual, Bell Canada, MicroAutomation, Cable and Wireless, Dimension Data, Avaya, Aspect, Microsoft, TeliaSonera, TracFone, AOL, Lincoln Financial Group, Shinsei Bank ... and more!
Q. What is the price of a class?
A. Nuance University classes are priced according to the amount of time each requires. The following will help you compute pricing, if it is not listed with the class description.

In North America, open enrollment classes (whether eCampus or classroom) are priced at $900 USD per day per participant. A day is one full day in the classroom or two live half-day webinars on eCampus. Thus, for example, Advanced Voice User Interface Design workshop is $2700 for 3 days in a classroom environment; Developing Speech Grammars: Level 1 is $1350 for three half day (4 hour) sessions.

In Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific regions, open enrollment classes are priced primarily in Euros, though in the UK we can also accept GBP. Pricing is based on the North American base. Thus, for our examples, price per day in Euros is €695; price per day in GBP is £640.

On Demand classes are priced individually, and the price is somewhat lower than the price for a full day with an instructor, even though participants using On Demand recordings are encouraged to work asynchronously with a Nuance University instructor to review questions and exercise results.

For custom/onsite classes, pricing in North America is $6000 per day; in EMEA and AsiaPac, daily pricing is €4500 per day. Instructor travel expenses are additional.

Please contact us at training@nuance.com with any questions you have.

Nuance reserves the right to cancel the registration of any student who has not submitted payment at least five (5) days prior to the class start date.

Q. Do eCampus classes require travel?
A. Our eCampus classes are virtual classes. We run the classes using a standard conferencing software (usually Webex) which may require that you download a small client as do most conferencing softwares. In addition to the actual class, we send URLs to virtual machines, in most classes, which we use for extensive hands-on exercises that directly access the Nuance software.
