The famous quote by American essayist, lecturer, and poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Words are also actions, and actions are a kind of words,” is thought-provoking and inspirational. And while by no means should we correlate this quote to the tactile use of technology, when looking at solutions like Dragon speech recognition, putting words into action can take on a quite literal meaning. In fact, for many an author, putting pen to paper is shifting over to using technologies like speech recognition to unleash their creativity to write books, blogs and other content.
For writers like Joe Holt, using his voice to pen novels has proven successful.
Holt has written multiple books by voice using Dragon desktop. And for writers who appreciate the flexibility and productivity that mobile solutions offer,
Dragon Anywhere, with its ability to enable long-form dictation on mobile devices is also proving powerful. In fact, in a recent survey of Dragon Anywhere users, over 15 percent self-identified as writers/bloggers.
When creativity hits the road
At first pass; when thinking “mobile professional” many wouldn’t associate this label with a writer - perhaps a social worker, insurance adjuster, or even a police officer comes to mind. Shift your thinking over to professions where creativity is a must, and chances are a writer is now top-of-mind.
Just like the social worker who needs to create content in real-time to capture detail and specificity for reporting of case work, writers too need to capture thoughts quickly and accurately (and oftentimes in the moment) to drive both productivity and creativity.
Dragon for the desktop has been used for years by writers to both enhance and speed the writing process. And with mobilization of the workforce, with solutions like Dragon Anywhere, writers can now create and share their work wherever they choose.
No time or length limits means you can speak as long as you want to complete documents of any length – even an entire book! Need to share your work from anywhere? Simply import or export to and from popular cloud-based document-sharing tools like Dropbox™ and note-taking apps like Evernote™.
And since Dragon Anywhere can be synchronized with supported Dragon desktop solutions (including Dragon Professional Individual and Dragon for Mac, writing started on the road can be finished back at the desktop seamlessly.
Now that’s a powerful story to tell.
