Mark Benjamin joined as the company’s Chief Executive Officer in April 2018. With extensive experience serving technology markets, Mark has a proven track record advancing growth initiatives related to cloud, SaaS, mobile, big data, and IoT solutions. Prior to joining Nuance, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of NCR Corporation, where he oversaw sales, solutions management, business and product development, services and supply chain operations. Before that, he spent more than 20 years holding various leadership appointments at ADP, including President of Global Enterprise Solutions, where he led a team of 20,000 employees, and managed a multi-billion-dollar portfolio across more than 100 countries. Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in International Finance and Marketing from the University of Miami.
Dan Tempesta assumed the role of executive vice president and Chief Financial Officer of Nuance in July 2015. Since joining Nuance in 2008, Dan has held several senior finance roles, having most recently served as Nuance’s Chief Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller and Senior Vice President of Finance. Dan brings more than 20 years of experience to the role, including extensive financial and operational experience with publicly-held companies and accounting firms. During his time at Nuance, Dan has led the majority of Nuance’s finance and accounting operations as well as tax, treasury, order management and internal control activities. He received an accounting degree from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Tom Beaudoin serves as the head of Nuance’s Business Transformation Office, and is responsible for leading efforts to align and fully leverage technologies within Nuance’s key vertical markets, and driving growth while improving margins and cost structure. With more than 40 years’ experience, Tom has deep insight and experience in developing financial and operational leadership strategies for global enterprises. Prior to joining Nuance in 2017, he held several executive leadership roles, including CFO of SimpliVity (now HPE); executive vice president and CFO of Nuance; president and CFO of Polaroid Corporation; senior vice president and CFO of Parametric Technology Corporation; and a number of senior finance positions during his 24-year career at Compaq Computer Corporation. Tom holds a B.S.B.A. degree and an M.B.A. from Babson College.
As chief legal officer, Wendy Cassity is responsible for oversight of all legal, corporate governance, intellectual property and regulatory activities across the company’s global operations. Prior to joining Nuance in September 2018, she was general counsel of Zayo Group, a publicly-traded communications infrastructure company, and general counsel of a publicly-traded natural resources company. Previously, she was in private practice as a corporate transactional attorney at McDermott Will & Emery, LLP and Cravath Swaine & Moore, LLP in their New York offices. Wendy holds a B.A. from the University of Arizona in English and History, and received her J.D. from Columbia Law School.
Beth Conway joined as the company’s executive vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer in December 2018. She is responsible for the full scope of human capital disciplines for Nuance’s worldwide workforce. Prior to coming to Nuance, Beth held numerous leadership roles at CA Technologies, most recently serving as senior vice president of People, and has a proven track record of creating and executing business-aligned, holistic talent strategies. She is a leader in building high-performance cultures where people can thrive, and her work has resulted in numerous business and industry accolades. Beth holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Siena College.
Joe Petro assumed the role of executive vice president and Chief Technology Officer in September 2018 and is responsible for overseeing Research, Platform Development, Application Development, Dev Ops, and Cloud Readiness for the company. Joe joined Nuance in 2008 as the senior vice president of Healthcare Research and Development, and prior to that served as the senior vice president of product development at Eclipsys Corporation, where he oversaw the development of more than 30 solution sets spanning diverse healthcare environments. Over the course of his career, he has held a number of executive roles both in venture-backed startups and large-scale enterprises. Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire, and a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kettering University.
Robert Weideman is the executive vice president and general manager of the Nuance Enterprise Division, responsible for customer self-service solutions that are used by leading organizations around the world to automate and optimize the customer care experience. Robert is driving the team behind Nina, the virtual assistant for customer service, which delivers human-like customer service for contact centres, and mobile and web apps. In his tenure with Nuance, he has been the general manager for the Dragon and Imaging businesses, as well as SVP of international marketing in EMEA. Previously, Robert served as chief marketing officer for ScanSoft and vice president of marketing for the Adobe Systems' portfolio company Cardiff Software. He has also held senior marketing and management roles at TGS.com and CA (Computer Associates). Robert holds a BS in Computer Information Systems and Software Engineering from San Diego State University.
David joined the company in January of 2019, and is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing on all global inorganic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, minority investments, divestitures, and joint ventures. Prior to Nuance, David led the global Corporate Development organizations at both NCR and ADP. Earlier in his career, he worked in Corporate Development at IBM, and in investment banking at Broadview International. David holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from Tufts University.
Mark Sherwood leads the global information technology group and drives the effective use of IT to support agility and productivity across Nuance’s businesses. With a strategic focus on supporting the company’s global customer base and delivering superior outcomes, Mark oversees infrastructure operations, core data services, business systems, SaaS delivery and information security, while continually driving new innovation and a cloud-first strategy. Prior to joining Nuance, he served as the Vice President of IT at Symantec and held numerous leadership roles at Cisco Systems. He earned a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Irvine, and holds an MBA from California State Polytechnic University.
