Transcribing your recordings
Use this topic to transcribe recordings from digital recording devices into text using Dragon.
- Transfer the recording to your computer or connect your recorder to your computer.
Consult the documentation that came with your recorder for details specific to your device. - From the DragonBar, select Tools>Transcribe Recording.
- Locate the file to transcribe on the Transcribe a recorded audio file screen.
- Click Transcribe.
- If the file is encrypted (a .DSS or .DS2 file), specify the password.
The supported file formats for recording device files are:
- .WAV
- .WMA
- .MP3
- .DSS
- .DS2
- .M4A
Your audio files must have sampling rate of at least 11.025 kHz, be 16-bit audio, and have at least 1 minute of acceptable speech.
To transcribe .MP3 files, your computer must have software installed that plays .MP3 files, such as Windows Media Player. If your computer can't play .MP3 files, you may receive an error when you attempt to transcribe an .MP3 file.
