Tips for vision-impaired users

Dragon is compatible with most popular screen readers, like JAWS. Here are some tips for vision-impaired users:

  • You cannot use a screen reader for the text in the Check Microphone wizard. Instead, you can just say anything for the duration of the test (typically about 30 seconds).
  • You can have Dragon play back the dictation for the text you select for correction. Select the Automatic playback on correction option on the Options dialog box—Correction page.
  • Occasionally, some screen readers may have difficulty reading menus. If this occurs, select the Use screen reader compatible menus option on the Options dialog box—Miscellaneous page.
  • If you perform a custom Dragon installation, screen readers cannot determine whether a custom feature is selected for installation.
  • If the screen reader has trouble reading the help in the Help Center, try clicking your mouse inside the Help Center or pressing the down arrow key to have the reader read the Help line by line.
