Dictation Box settings

Settings>Options>Dictation Box

Use this dialog box to configure the Dictation Box.

Option Description
Anchor Dictation Box to application

In Anchored mode, you can enable Automatically open the Dictation Box for unsupported applications. The option opens the Dictation Box for applications that only support basic dictation.

Font

Changes the style, color, size, and other aspects of the font used in the Dictation Box.

To change the font:

  1. Click Change Font.
  2. Change font settings as necessary.
  3. Click OK.

To restore the default font:

Click Default.

Paste

Determines how the Dictation Box pastes text in each application.

The options are:

  • Type keys <Ctrl+V>—Uses Ctrl+V to copy text from the Dictation Box to the application.
  • Use Windows Paste Command—Uses the Windows Paste Command to copy text from the Dictation Box to the application.
  • Simulate keystrokes—Sends keystrokes from the Dictation Box to the application. Use "Simulate keystrokes" if the other methods of pasting text do not work.

Default value: Type keys <Ctrl+V>

Hidden Dictation Box behavior
Open Dictation Box as hidden Enables the Hidden Dictation Box feature.
Dictation Box visibility (%) Sets the Dictation Box's level of transparency. Enter a value from 0 (completely invisible) to 100 (completely opaque). Recommended value is 50%.
Allow user commands when hidden Enables user commands like Text and Graphics commands in the Dictation Box.
Allow voice dictation commands when hidden Enables dictation commands in the Dictation Box.
Leave Dictation Box open after text is transferred

Keeps the Dictation Box open after it transfers your dictation.

Show character count

Displays the character count in the Dictation Box.

Default value: Selected

Keep transferred text in clipboard

Retains dictation text in the Windows clipboard. If text transfer is not successful, allows you to paste text into a text field or application from the clipboard.

You must have Type keys <Ctrl+V> or Use Windows Paste Command as the Paste option for your application.

Default value: Deselected

Limit text length for compatibility with older applications Check this option for the Dictation Box to receive a maximum of 32767 characters. Use if experiencing text transfer issues. For example, the target application stops working, text does not transfer, or transferred text is truncated.

Restore Defaults

Click to restore all Dictation Box settings to their defaults.
