Opening and closing applications

You can use your voice at any time to open the applications that are in your Start menu.

To open applications from the Windows Start menu, you must enable the Enable launching from the Start menu option. For more information, see Options dialog box—Commands.

To open an application:

Say one of the following:

  • "Open <application name>"
  • "Start <application name>"
  • "Launch <application name>"

To launch an application, say the application's name as it appears in the Start menu. For example, "Open Internet Explorer".

To close an application:

  1. Click in the application window to ensure it has focus.
  2. Say "Close Window".
