About Smart Format Rules

Smart Format Rules are automatic formatting rules that take effect when you configure:

• Auto-Formatting options.
• Word properties.

When you attempt to edit dictation that Dragon formatted automatically according to your Auto-Formatting options and word properties, a Smart Format Rules window opens. You can choose to edit the text, or leave it as Dragon formatted it. Smart Format Rules appear when you edit text:

• Using your keyboard.
• Using the Correction menu.
• In the Spelling window.

Smart Format Rules appear only when you have selected the Show Smart Format Rules option on the Options dialog box—Correction page.
