Working with vocabularies

Dragon uses one or more vocabularies with your User Profile to help it to recognize words and phrases correctly, based on the sound of the words and phrases and also on their context.

To open a vocabulary:

  1. From the DragonBar, select Tools>Vocabulary Center>Manage Vocabularies.

    The Manage Vocabularies dialog box opens.

  2. Select a vocabulary, and then click Open.

To create a new vocabulary:

  1. From the DragonBar, select Tools>Vocabulary Center>Manage Vocabularies.

    The Manage Vocabularies dialog box opens.

  2. Click New.

    The New Vocabulary dialog box opens.

For more information, click the Help button in the New Vocabulary dialog box.

To rename a vocabulary:

  1. From the DragonBar, select Tools>Vocabulary Center>Manage Vocabularies.

    The Manage Vocabularies dialog box opens.

  2. Click Rename.

    The Rename Vocabulary dialog box opens.

  3. Specify a name in the New name field, and then click OK.

To delete a vocabulary:

You cannot delete the vocabulary that is currently open. To delete it, you must first close it and open a different vocabulary.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Tools>Vocabulary Center>Manage Vocabularies.

    The Manage Vocabularies dialog box opens.

  2. Click Delete.

    A confirmation dialog box opens.

  3. Click Yes.

    Dragon deletes the vocabulary.

To export a vocabulary from your user profile:

You can share vocabularies with other users by exporting them from a user profile and then importing them into another.

You cannot share vocabularies by copying and pasting the vocabulary files from your local drive.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Tools>Vocabulary Center>Manage Vocabularies.

    The Manage Vocabularies dialog box opens.

  2. Click Export.

    The Save as dialog box opens.

  3. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the vocabulary, and then click Save.

    Dragon exports the vocabulary.

To export a vocabulary from a different user profile:

  1. From the DragonBar, select Settings>Profile>Open User Profile.

    The Open User Profile dialog box opens.

  2. Select a user profile, and then click Open.
  3. From the DragonBar, select Tools>Vocabulary Center>Manage Vocabularies.

    The Manage Vocabularies dialog box opens.

  4. Click Export.

    The Save as dialog box opens.

  5. Navigate to the folder where you want to save the vocabulary, and then click Save.

    Dragon exports the vocabulary, saving it as a TOP file.

To import a vocabulary:

  1. Open the user profile into which you want to import the vocabulary. Do the following:

    1. From the DragonBar, select Settings>Profile>Open User Profile.
    2. Select a user profile, and then click Open.
  2. From the DragonBar, select Tools>Vocabulary Center>Manage Vocabularies.

    The Manage Vocabularies dialog box opens.

  3. Click Import.

    The Open dialog box opens.

  4. Select the vocabulary TOP file, and then click Open.

    The Import Vocabulary dialog box opens.

  5. Optionally specify a new name for the vocabulary.
  6. Click OK.

    Dragon imports the vocabulary.
