Using recognition modes

You use recognition modes to tell Dragon what to listen for.

Dragon has five recognition modes:

Recognition Mode Use to: To switch to this mode:

Dictation & Commands

  • Dictate.
  • Use commands to correct text, format text, and so on.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Normal Mode" or "Normal Mode On".
  • Select Settings>Now listening for...>Dictation & Commands.

Dictation

  • Dictate only with no voice correction.
  • Dictate quickly.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Dictation Mode" or "Dictation Mode On".
  • Select Settings>Now listening for...>Dictation.

Commands

  • Use commands to correct text, format text, and so on.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Command Mode" or "Command Mode On".
  • Select Settings>Now listening for...>Commands.

Numbers

  • Dictate only numerals.
  • Dictate numeric data in tables or spreadsheets.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Numbers Mode" or "Numbers Mode On".
  • Select Settings>Now listening for...>Numbers.

Spell

  • Dictate letters, numbers, and punctuation by spelling.
  • Dictate several terms not in the active vocabulary.
  • Use commands to correct text, format text, and so on.
  • Use the NATO alphabet to spell words.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Spell Mode" or "Spell Mode On".
  • Select Settings>Now listening for...>Spell.
