Microphone tips

Positioning your microphone properly is important for optimal recognition accuracy.

Here are some tips for using your microphone with Dragon.

  • When you're first starting with Dragon, it's best to use a headset. You're likely to get better recognition, because it helps keep the microphone positioned properly.
  • Don't use a hand-held microphone if you dictate for long periods of time.
  • Run the microphone check if:

    • You switch microphones.
    • Your volume is consistently too low or too high.
    • Dragon can't hear you well.

For more information, see Performing a microphone check.

  • Check the Volume indicator on the DragonBar to ensure Dragon can hear you.

For more information, see The DragonBar.

  • Remember, you can use multiple audio devices (dictation sources) with a single user profile.

For more information, see About microphones and other dictation sources and Working with microphones and other dictation sources.
