Working with user profiles

A user profile is a set of files that Dragon uses to process what you say. Your user profile stores information, like the type of microphone you use, custom words, and vocabularies.

Procedures

To create a new user profile:

If you are using a Dragon edition where Nuance Management Center/NMS mode is enabled, Dragon prompts you to create a single user profile in the New User wizard for your region when you log in to Dragon for the first time. If you dictate in multiple languages, Dragon prompts you to create a user profile for each region when you select a different language or region. You can have only a single user profile per region.

  1. On the Welcome screen, click Next.
  2. Run through the wizard.

For more information, click the Help button on each screen.

Or

If you are using a Dragon edition where Nuance Management Center/NMS mode is disabled (Standalone mode), do one of the following:

  1. From the DragonBar, select Settings>Profile>New User Profile.

The New User Profile dialog box opens.

  2. Click New.

    The New User wizard opens.

  3. Run through the wizard.

For more information, click the Help button on each screen.

Or

  1. From the DragonBar, select Settings>Profile>Manage User Profiles.

The Manage User Profiles dialog box opens.

  2. Click New.

    The New User wizard opens.

  3. Run through the wizard.

For more information, click the Help button on each screen.

To back up your user profile automatically:

If you are using a Dragon edition where Nuance Management Center/NMS mode is enabled, your Dragon administrator configures your automatic backup frequency in the NMC console.

If you are using a Dragon edition where Nuance Management Center/NMS mode is disabled (Standalone mode), Dragon creates a full user profile backup automatically every fifth time your user profile is saved by default. To change your automatic backup frequency, do the following:

  1. From the DragonBar, select Settings>Options.

    The Options dialog box opens.

  2. Click the Data page.
  3. Specify a value for the Automatically back up user profile every n saves option.

Automatic user profile backups occur every 5 saves by default.

For more information, see Options dialog box—Data page.

Dragon does not back up Roaming user profiles. If you are using the Roaming feature, your Dragon administrator must back up your Roaming user profiles.
