Load XPS files and convert them to editable formats, or convert your PDF files into XPS. XPS files are handled in their native format. No other software component is required for the conversions.
New! Converting to Office 2007 file formats
On Windows Vista and Windows XP with installed .NET Framework, the program generates .DOCX, .XLSX and .PPTX format files. The conversion can be performed without having Office 2007 installed on the computer.
New! Packages and envelopes
PDF packages can be opened and the individual PDF files and their attachments can be accessed and saved individually. New attachments can be added to PDF files inside a package. Files can be grouped inside packages as PDF files or in envelopes in their original file types.

The International Standards Organization (ISO) has officially published the specification for 19005-1 PDF/A, a specification of PDF for the long-term preservation of archived documents. PDF Converter Professional has made significant improvements in its support of this important new PDF specification, as well as PDF 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, and 1.7.

PDF Converter Professional 5 is able to load XPS, PS and EPS files and create PDF files from them.
New! Support for handling PDF packages
PDF packages help you group related files, maybe of differing file types, making it easier to handle them e.g. send them by e-mail. A PDF package is a single PDF 1.7 file that contains a set of PDF files created from the input files.
New! Archiving mails, attachments and other Outlook items
It is possible to archive selected Microsoft Outlook items or an entire Outlook folder with or without subfolders. Different archiving methods are available. Outlook items can be stored in separate PDF files, merged into one PDF file or transferred to a PDF package.
Improved! Enhanced document mark-up
Annotations now have “sticky” settings streamlining the process of commenting. An active markup tool has also been added to add notes or strikeout text on the fly from simple keyboard commands.
New! PDF document comparison, splitting, extraction and imposition
Compare two versions of a PDF document to quickly pin-point changed text or objects. Split a large PDF into smaller ones by given criteria, to make it easier to distribute. Extract certain pages from a PDF according to criteria you define. Use imposition to prepare a PDF for submission to a printing house.
New! Table of contents
Insert a Table of Contents into a PDF, based on the bookmark hierarchy. This provides navigation when the document is printed and bookmarks are no longer available.
Improved! Stamps and watermarks
New stamps are offered and custom stamps can be created – even including dynamic elements. Additionally a transparency setting can be applied to images, stamps or watermarks.
New! Windows Desktop Search (WDS)
PDF Converter Professional 5 augments the WDS operating system search facility, so it can also search text in PDF files – even image-only files.
New! Measurement tools
Distance, perimeter and area tools are available for on-screen measuring. When the PDF contains a scale drawing, you can enter its scaling so these tools show the distances or areas represented inside the drawing.
New! Include and handle 3D objects
Three-dimensional objects can be rotated, spun, panned, zoomed and viewed from different perspectives. Animations in the object can be played and the measurement tools can be used with 3D objects. The program allows you to embed 3D objects in PDF files. You can view, modify and export the model tree that defines the object structure.
Improved! Improvements in Text-to-Speech
Nuance RealSpeak Solo is offered for nine languages, compared to just one previously. You can now have PDF text read aloud paragraph-by-paragraph, not just page-by-page.
New! Movie and audio files
You can embed movie and sound files in the PDF and control how they will be played.
New! Profiles for creating PDF files
With the Searchable PDF profile Searchable PDF files can be created from image files or Image-only PDF files using OCR for extracting text from images. The PDF with MRC Compression profile is useful for creating compressed PDF files from documents scanned to image files. It has most value for documents with grayscale or color pictures or backgrounds. You can choose how to balance image quality against file size. Creation of Searchable MRC PDF with the combination of both features is also possible.

Tags can now be applied to individual objects in the document.

Security set-up is streamlined with a simple drag and drop security profile mechanism, plus support for custom signature and security schemes. Digital signatures can now be automatically time stamped.
