Using recognition modes

You use recognition modes to tell Dragon what to listen for. You select modes:

  • On the New DragonBar from the Recognition Mode selector.
  • On the Classic DragonBar from the Modes menu.

Tutorial: What can I do with the DragonBar?

Dragon has five recognition modes:

Recognition Mode Use to: To switch to this mode:
Dictation & Commands
  • Dictate.
  • Use commands to correct text, format text, and so on.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Normal Mode" or "Normal Mode On".
  • Select Dictation & Commands from the Recognition mode selector. (New DragonBar)
  • Select Modes>Normal. (Classic DragonBar)
Dictation
  • Dictate only with no voice correction.
  • Dictate quickly.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Dictation Mode" or "Dictation Mode On".
  • Select Dictation. (New DragonBar)
  • Select Modes>Dictation.
Commands
  • Use commands to correct text, format text, and so on.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Command Mode" or "Command Mode On".
  • Select Commands. (New DragonBar)
  • Select Modes>Commands.
Numbers
  • Dictate only numerals.
  • Dictate numeric data in tables or spreadsheets.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Numbers Mode" or "Numbers Mode On".
  • Select Numbers. (New DragonBar)
  • Select Modes>Numbers. (Classic DragonBar)
Spell
  • Dictate letters, numbers, and punctuation by spelling.
  • Dictate several terms not in the active vocabulary.
  • Use commands to correct text, format text, and so on.
  • Use the military alphabet, or phonetic alphabet, to spell words.

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Start Spell Mode" or "Spell Mode On".
  • Select Spell. (New DragonBar)
  • Select Modes>Spell. (Classic DragonBar)
