Working with the DragonBar

The DragonBar is the toolbar you use to control Dragon.

To turn the microphone on:

Do one of the following:

  • Click the microphone.
  • Press the plus sign key (+) on the numeric keypad.

You can't turn the microphone on by voice.

To turn the microphone off:

Do one of the following:

  • Click the microphone.
  • Say "Microphone Off".
  • Press the plus sign key (+) on the numeric keypad.

To put Dragon to sleep:

Do one of the following:

  • Say "Go to Sleep" or "Stop Listening".
  • Press the forward slash key (/) on the numeric keypad.

By default, Dragon goes to sleep automatically when you have not said anything after 5 minute. To change this, modify the Put microphone to sleep after n minutes of silence setting on the Options dialog box—Miscellaneous page.

To wake up Dragon:

Do one of the following:

  • Click the microphone.
  • Say "Listen to Me" or "Wake Up".
  • Press the forward slash key (/) on the numeric keypad.

To load a user profile:

Use this procedure when the microphone state is mic when no profile is loaded.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Settings>Profile>Open User Profile.

    The Open User Profile dialog box opens.

  2. Select a user profile.
  3. Click Open.

To select from a menu:

  1. Say "Switch to DragonBar".
  2. Say "<menu name>".
  3. Say "<menu option>".

Or

Select a menu to expand it, and then select the menu option with your mouse.

To disable Auto-collapse:

This prevents the DragonBar from collapsing when you move your mouse away from it.

If you disable Auto-collapse when the DragonBar is collapsed, you may need to right-click the DragonBar to expand it.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Settings>Options.

    The Options dialog box opens.

  2. Click Appearance.
  3. Deselect the Auto-collapse check box.
  4. Click OK.

To enable Auto-collapse:

This allows the DragonBar to collapse to a more compact size when you move your mouse away from it.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Settings>Options.

    The Options dialog box opens.

  2. Click Appearance.
  3. Select the Auto-collapse check box.
  4. Click OK.

To expand the DragonBar:

If auto-collapse is selected, hover your mouse over the DragonBar.

If auto-collapse is deselected, do one of the following:

  • Say "Expand DragonBar".
  • On the DragonBar, click expand button.

To collapse the DragonBar:

If auto-collapse is selected, move your mouse away from the DragonBar.

If auto-collapse is deselected, do one of the following:

  • Say "Collapse DragonBar".
  • On the DragonBar, click .

To change the recognition mode:

Say "Start <recognition mode name> Mode".

Or

From the DragonBar, select Settings>Now listening for... and then select a recognition mode.

To minimize the DragonBar and place it in Tray Icon mode:

Do one of the following:

  • Click the Minimize to tray icon ()
  • From the DragonBar, select Tools>Minimize to tray.
  • Say "Hide DragonBar".
  • Press the asterisk key (*) on the numeric keypad.

You can also select the Start Dragon minimized in the tray option on the Options dialog box—Appearance page to launch Dragon with the DragonBar already minimized to the system tray.

To maximize the DragonBar and restore it from Tray icon mode:

Do one of the following:

  • Right-click the tray icon, and then select Open.
  • Say "Show DragonBar".
  • Press the asterisk key (*) on the numeric keypad.

If you selected the Start Dragon minimized in the tray option on the Options dialog box—Appearance page, you can deselect it to launch Dragon with the DragonBar maximized at its regular size.
