About Full Text Control

Tutorial: Why did a text box pop up when I spoke?

About

Full Text Control is a feature that enables specific Dragon functionality in text fields on the Web and in applications. The DragonBar's Full Text Control Indicator is on (fulll text control on) when your cursor is in a field where Full Text Control is available.

Full Text Control is not available in Unknown Text Fields. For more information, see About Unknown text fields.

Functionality provided

Full Text Control provides the following functionality:

  • Automatic word spacing adjustment when you insert words.
  • Automatic capitalization of the first word in each sentence.
  • Commands that act on specific text, like "Select <text>" and "Correct <text>".

When Full Text Control is unavailable (full text control off), this functionality is disabled.

Alternatives

When Full Text Control is unavailable, you can do the following instead:

  • Correct dictated text in Unknown text fields using your mouse and keyboard.
  • Say "Space" to adjust word spacing.
  • Say "Cap" to capitalize words.
  • Use the Dictation Box to dictate and correct text, and then transfer the text from the Dictation Box to the Unknown text field.
