Dragon's microphone

You use Dragon's microphone to dictate and to give Dragon commands.

When the microphone is... It looks like this...

On

Dragon's microphone has to be on for you to dictate. To turn the microphone on, do one of the following:

  • Click the microphone.
  • Press the plus sign key (+) on the numeric keypad.

Off

To turn the microphone off, do one of the following:

  • Click the microphone.
  • Say "Microphone Off".
  • Press the plus sign key (+) on the numeric keypad.

Asleep

To put Dragon to sleep, do one of the following:

  • Say "Go to Sleep" or "Stop Listening".
  • Press the forward slash key (/) on the numeric keypad.

If Dragon is asleep, do one of the following to wake it up:

  • Click the microphone.
  • Say "Listen to Me" or "Wake Up".
  • Press the forward slash key (/) on the numeric keypad.

Disabled

If you see Dragon in this state, the microphone is disabled. To enable the microphone, do one of the following according to the edition and mode you are using.

Dragon Professional Group, NMS mode disabled

Dragon Legal Group, NMS mode disabled
  • No user profile is open, or
  • You opened a transcription user profile.

If no user profile is open:

  1. Select Settings>Profile>Open User Profile.
  2. Select a non-transcription user profile, and then click Open.

If a transcription user profile is open:

Open a different user profile. You cannot enable the microphone for a transcription user profile; dictation is not available for transcription.

Dragon Professional Group, NMS enabled

 You are logged out.

Log in to Dragon.

In Tray Icon mode

When the DragonBar is in Tray Icon mode, it is minimized to your Windows system tray. You can access Dragon's microphone from here.

  • To turn the microphone on, do one of the following:

    • Click the microphone.
    • Press the plus key (+) on the numeric keyboard.

  • To turn the microphone off, do one of the following:

    • Click the microphone.
    • Press the plus key (+) on the numeric keypad.
