About dictating license plates and VINs
About |
You dictate license plates by using either the "Enter Plate" and "End Plate" commands, or by using a custom command that your Dragon administrator creates to enable Plate mode. You can also dictate Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) by using either the “Enter VIN” and “End VIN” commands, or by using a custom command. When you say the "Enter Plate" command or the “Enter VIN” command, Dragon enters Plate mode. Plate mode enables Dragon to listen for the phonetic alphabet your site uses to dictate the characters in a license plate or VIN. If you're using a custom command, the command executes a macro that enables Plate mode. It might also open your license plate lookup software to make plate lookup fast and convenient. When you dictate the plate or VIN, Dragon transcribes the phonetic alphabet you use into the letters, numbers, and special characters in the plate or VIN. You can dictate up to seventeen characters in one utterance. If you dictate additional characters, Dragon truncates the characters, transcribing only the first seventeen. You can dictate without a character limitation by pausing between phonetic characters. |

Who creates license plate and VIN commands |
If your company chooses to use custom commands, your Dragon administrator creates the custom command for you. Your administrator also determines whether your site uses the default NATO alphabet for plate dictation, or a custom phonetic alphabet. |
