Working in OpenOffice Writer—Working with text

For a list of commands you can use in OpenOffice Writer, say "What Can I Say?" at any time.

To select words:

Say "Select <word>".

Or

Say one of the following:

  • "Select <text>"
  • "Select <text> through <text>" (US and Canada only)
  • "Select <text> to <text>" (all other regions)

To select lines:

  1. Move your cursor to the line.
  2. Say "Select Line".

To select paragraphs:

  1. Move your cursor to the paragraph.
  2. Say "Select Paragraph".

To deselect text:

Say "Unselect That".

To bold, italicize, or underline text:

Say one of the following:

  • "Bold <text>"
  • "Italicize <text>"
  • "Underline <text>"
  • "Bold <text> through <text>" (US and Canada only)
  • "Italicize <text> through <text>" (US and Canada only)
  • "Underline <text> through <text>" (US and Canada only)
  • "Bold <text> to<text>" (all other regions)
  • "Italicize <text> to<text>" (all other regions)
  • "Underline <text> to<text>" (all other regions)
