Adding words and phrases to your vocabulary

Use these procedures to add words and phrases to your vocabulary.

To add words and phrases in the Add word or phrase dialog box:

This is the simplest method to add words and phrases.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Vocabulary>Add new word or phrase.

    The Add word or phrase dialog box opens.

  2. Specify the word or phrase and its spoken form.
  3. Optionally train Dragon on the pronunciation.

  4. Click Add.

    Dragon adds the word or phrase to your vocabulary.

To add words and phrases from the Vocabulary Editor:

This method allows you to first search Dragon's vocabulary for your word or phrase.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Vocabulary>Open Vocabulary Editor.

    The Vocabulary Editor opens.

  2. Click Add.

    The Add word or phrase dialog box opens.

  3. Specify the word or phrase and its spoken form.
  4. Optionally train Dragon on the pronunciation of the word.

  5. Click Add.

    Dragon adds the word or phrase to your vocabulary.

To add words and phrases using the Spelling Window:

This method allows you to spell words and phrases by character and then add them to your vocabulary.

Do one of the following:

Say "Spell That", and then immediately begin spelling the word or phrase. The Spelling Window opens.

Or

  1. Select the word or phrase by saying one of the following:

    • "Select That"
    • "Select <text>"
    • "Select <text> through <text>" (US and Canada)
    • "Select <text> to <text>" (all other regions)
  2. Say "Spell That".

    The Spelling Window opens.

Then, do the following:

  1. Finish spelling or typing the word or phrase.
  2. Click OK, or say "Click OK".

    Dragon adds the word or phrase to your vocabulary.

Adding words and phrases from specific documents:

This is a more advanced method that allows Dragon to analyze documents on your local drive and then add words not already in your vocabulary.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Vocabulary>Learn from specific documents.

    The Learn from specific documents wizard opens.

  2. Proceed through the wizard.

    For more information, click the Help button on each screen.

  3. Click Finish.

Importing words and phrases from a list:

This method allows you to import a list of words and phrases from a text file.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Vocabulary>Import list of words or phrases.

    The Import list of words or phrases wizard opens.

  2. Proceed through the wizard.

  3. Click Finish.

To add contact names from your Sent email:

This method allows Dragon to analyze your Sent email and add the contact names to your vocabulary.

Dragon can only analyze Sent email in the same language as your user profile.

  1. From the DragonBar, select Vocabulary>Learn from sent emails.

    The Learn From Sent E-Mails wizard opens.

  2. Proceed through the wizard.

  3. Click Finish.
